This assignment was to creatively make an illustration that can visually explain the passage of my choosing. I did a poem “The Red Wheelbarrow” written by William Carlos Williams. Since the poem gives an obvious image, it was not difficult to start off. However, I had many problems with getting the exact style I wanted. I basically used brown strokes and patterns to get the style as close as I could. I’m not quite satisfied with the outcome, but the illustration is good enough to convey the message of the poem.

Stylistic Self Portrait
I was asked to choose an art style to use for this project. The style I chose was pop art. Among other famous pop artists, I was interested in the style by Roy Linchtenstein. His art style resembles cartoons. He uses a dotted pattern often in his works. The colors mostly used for his works are red, blue, and yellow. Knowing these factors, I tried my best to make a self portrait that gives a pop art style using the dotted pattern, the colors, and cartoon-like strokes.
Photorealistic product illustration
The photorealistic project was the most challenging project to me. I found myself always at my desk working on the project. The purpose of the project was to make a photorealistic product illustration. I chose to illustrate an Old Spice body spray. While I was doing this project, I found how important the use of pen and mesh tools was. Without them, this project would be impossible. The most difficult part was getting the texture on the white grip on the product. I had to use many pieces with mesh gradients and applied a gaussian blur to them.
Twitter Bird
The Twitter Bird project encouraged me to design a twitter that represents who I am. To do this, I had to find out some obvious things about me. I have glasses and small eyes, and I usually wear a hat. So, I decided to stick with these items for the twitter bird. First, I drew a thumbnail. Then, I scanned and traced it with the pen tool in illustrator. I put a little suitcase and tie on it to make the twitter look like a business man.
Road Signs
Zoo icon sign assignment
This is The Zoo icon sign assignment. The purpose of this assignment was to create similar icons of animals that can be easily recognized. Then, when people see those signs at the zoo, they know what animal each sign represents. My design solution was to make each animal look in the same direction to create unity. Another technique I used to show unity was to illustrate animals without their bodies. I also made the signs cute because I thought the zoo would be more specific to children.
